Pretextual Stops E-mail

A pretextual traffic stop is when the police pull you over for some bogus reason because they really just want to harass you. In 1995, the U.S. Supreme Court made it easier for them to get away with it. Smoove is back -- with improved audio -- in an important podcast about police dishonesty and the Constitution. Don't just sit back and let the U.S. become a police state. Stand up for your rights!

This is excellent! My 21 yr old son experienced this. He was driving my husbands Buick LeSabre(hubby was a passenger) he was not speeding (hubby was a passenger) but a NYS trooper came up behind him a started the lights/siren thing. My son was scared but his dad told him to slowly pull over it would be fine. The trooper approached the car looked into the car and was clearly stunned to see my husband sitting in the passenger seat. When they inquired about the reason for being pulled over they were told he thought my son wasn't wearing a seatbelt. Huh? Seriously? It wasn't the seatbelt, it was the fact that a long haired, baseball cap wearing, hemp necklace wearing kid was driving an old man car. My husband tried to further inquire about the stop, but the trooper was not into discussing it anymore. I am glad my husband was with our son b/c I'm sure this would have escalated. I am sending this link to my son. Thanks!
